Peter Fury Warns Joshua Could Hand Tyson Fury First Stoppage Defeat
Peter Fury, uncle and former trainer of Tyson Fury, has warned that Anthony Joshua could hand his nephew the first stoppage defeat of his professional career when the two British heavyweights meet.
Speaking on the Fight Your Corner podcast, Peter Fury said he sees two possible outcomes: Tyson Fury using his boxing ability to outpoint or outbox Joshua, or Joshua finding the right target and stopping Fury.
“I have not really thought about it, to be honest. He is either going to outbox him and he will get to Joshua or Joshua is going to find the target and he will clean him out,” Fury said.
He added that the eventual outcome could depend largely on the strategies adopted by both fighters.
The comments come as preparations continue for the long-awaited Fury-Joshua showdown. Both fighters secured victories in their respective comeback bouts in July, with Fury stopping Mariusz Wach in the seventh round and Joshua stopping Kristian Prenga in the second.
The bout is now expected to take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in December, with December 11 reported as the tentative date, although final details were still being completed as of September 22.
Peter Fury’s comments remain an assessment rather than a prediction of a confirmed result, with the outcome ultimately to be determined when the two heavyweights meet in the ring.
