Political Tensions Rise as Shehu Buba’s Aide Quits Over Respect and Communication Issues.

Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Hon. Abba Aliyu Tilde, has resigned from his position, citing a breakdown in mutual respect, communication, and trust within his working relationship with the Bauchi South senator. Tilde’s resignation, effective immediately as of September 6, 2026, comes amid ongoing allegations linking Senator Shehu Buba to banditry and terrorism—claims the senator has consistently denied as fabricated and politically motivated.

The allegations gained traction after social media circulated videos and claims suggesting that suspected bandit kingpins had visited the senator’s residence. Buba dismissed these materials as manipulated and has taken legal action against those behind what he described as a smear campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.

Interestingly, Tilde’s resignation letter did not directly connect his departure to the allegations. Instead, he expressed frustration over repeated instances where he felt ignored and unrecognized. Notably, he recounted a recent visit by Senator Buba to his ward, during which a meeting was held with residents without prior notification to him—a move Tilde considered disrespectful and hurtful given his role and connection to the local community.

In his resignation letter, Tilde emphasized that such incidents and ongoing experiences had made it impossible for him to continue working effectively. He stated, “I cannot continue in a position where I feel that there is little regard for my contributions or for the relationship between us.” He also underscored the importance of mutual respect, communication, and trust in any political or public service relationship—principles he believes are absent in his current working environment.

Despite the controversy, Tilde clarified that he was not accusing Senator Buba of involvement in the allegations. His decision to resign, he said, was based on the need to uphold his dignity and integrity, describing it as “the most honorable decision” he could make. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the senator’s aide and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The fallout from these events continues to draw public attention, with many observers speculating on the impact of the allegations and internal disagreements on Senator Shehu Buba’s political career and reputation in Bauchi State.
