Recycling company set to generate over 6,500 jobs in Ogun State
Neveah Limited, a recycling company, has announced that its aluminium and copper recycling facility in Ogun State is expected to create over 6,500 jobs for local residents.
The company expressed hope that the job opportunities would significantly boost the state’s economy and help tackle growing concerns about youth unemployment in the region.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company’s Executive Officer, Ibidapo Lawal, made the announcement during the plant’s first production run. He described the milestone as not just a technical feat, but a significant development for the community.
He said, “This milestone is more than just production, it’s a glimpse into our future. The recycling plant, a multi-billion Naira investment, is designed to process over 44,000 metric tons of aluminium and copper annually, generate over $150 million in export revenue, create 500 direct and over 6,000 indirect jobs, and cut carbon emissions by more than 377,000 tons yearly.
“Such environmental and economic benefits align with Neveah’s broader mission to foster sustainable growth and support national development goals. We are not just recycling; we are redefining how Africa contributes to the global circular economy.”
He also said that as full-scale operations begin, the plant hopes to become a cornerstone of Nigeria’s green industrial future, transforming waste into opportunity and setting a precedent for environmentally responsible industrial development in West Africa.
“Neveah’s project not only holds domestic significance but also strengthens Nigeria’s position in the global raw materials supply chain,” Lawal noted. “The facility produces materials that meet international purity standards, making them suitable for export and capable of generating foreign exchange.
“With an estimated $150 million in projected export revenue, the initiative supports the country’s broader goals of economic diversification and the development of non-oil sectors,” he added.
