Remo Day 2024 Kicks Off with Art Exhibition, Cultural Artifact Display

The maiden edition of Remo Day 2024 commenced on a high note today, December 20th, 2024, with a captivating art exhibition and significant cultural artifact display at the prestigious Royal Event Center, Akarigbo Palace, Ita Oba, Sagamu, Ogun State.
The exhibition, which showcased the rich cultural heritage of Remoland, was attended by an impressive array of high profile dignitaries, including royalties, top government officials, Executive Members of RemoGDF and esteemed personalities.
The art exhibition featured a diverse range of artworks, carefully curated into three distinct segments. The first segment highlighted the creative talents of students from various schools in Remoland, while the second segment showcased the works of commercial artists from the region. The final segment presented a fascinating collection of historical and cultural artifacts from different locations in Remo.
Mr. Olayemi Atakan, the Art Executive, provided a comprehensive tour of the exhibition, offering insightful commentary on the origin, history, and inspiration behind each artwork. The attendees, including Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, were visibly impressed by the sheer talent and creativity on display.
Oba Babatunde Ajayi expressed his appreciation for the organizers, praising the uniqueness of the exhibition and emphasizing its significance as a first-of-its-kind event. He also announced plans to make the exhibition an annual feature, with subsequent editions promising to be even more spectacular.
The exhibition also featured an art competition, with seven schools emerging as top winners. Soyindo Community High School took the top spot, followed by Mayflower Private School, Ikenne, in second place, and Saapade high School in third place. The other winning schools included Advanced Breed Comprehensive College, Sagamu; Ogijo Community High School; Regal Height College, Sagamu; and Babcock University High School.
Mr. Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, the Ogun State Secretary to the State Government, delivered a brief address, expressing his delight at the exhibition and applauding the participating schools for their outstanding contributions. “I’m very much excited today about what I’ve seen, but the most exciting is seeing the artwork done by the secondary school students. It’s so delightful to see, and I’m pleased,” he enthused.
The Remo Day 2024 celebration is scheduled to continue with a range of exciting activities, including a stage play and a grand rally, promising to be an unforgettable experience for all participants.
