Remo’s Future Rests on Education, Ogunkoya Says on Teachers’ Day.

African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Remo Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Prince Teslim Ogunkoya, has praised teachers across Remo and Nigeria, describing them as essential to society’s development and the preparation of future generations.
In a message marking Teachers’ Day on October 5, Ogunkoya said Remo’s future would depend partly on the attention given to education and the people responsible for teaching its children.
He said his vision, “Empowering Remo, Building Tomorrow,” puts people at the centre of development, with education serving as a key means of creating a stronger and more productive constituency.
Ogunkoya said teachers deserved more than annual recognition, calling for sustained support, adequate resources and opportunities to help them do their work effectively. He disclosed that he had provided tablets to teachers and said further support was planned.
The candidate identified education, agriculture, healthcare and infrastructure as four interconnected pillars of his development agenda. He said investment in education should go beyond school buildings to include teachers, learning materials, digital tools and opportunities that prepare young people for a changing world.
“Teachers are among the most important builders of any society. What we teach our children today and the quality of education we give them will determine the kind of Remo we have tomorrow,” he said.
He commended teachers for their dedication and resilience, particularly their efforts to educate children despite the challenges associated with the profession. He also argued that teachers should have a stronger role in discussions on education policy and human capital development, given their direct experience of the needs of learners and schools.
Ogunkoya said young people should gain practical, vocational, digital and entrepreneurial skills alongside academic knowledge. Such skills, he said, could improve their prospects and help them contribute to the economy.
He added that education should be linked with progress in agriculture, healthcare and infrastructure. In his view, a well-educated population needs an economy that creates opportunities, healthcare services that support productive lives and infrastructure that enables schools, businesses and communities to function.
Ogunkoya said his international exposure had expanded his understanding of education, people development and access to opportunity. He expressed a desire to bring those perspectives into his engagement with Remo.
“Empowering Remo is not only about what we can provide today. It is about building the people who will sustain Remo tomorrow. And teachers are at the heart of that process,” he said.
He urged teachers to continue inspiring and preparing children for the future, and wished educators across Remo and Nigeria a happy Teachers’ Day, thanking them for their service and contribution to nation-building.
