In a significant move to address the pressing issues of banditry, criminal activities, and food inflation in the region, the South-West Governors’ Forum has resolved to establish a dedicated security outfit and joint food hubs.
This decision was reached during a recent meeting of the forum, where the governors collectively prioritized the safety and well-being of their citizens.
The new security initiative aims to strengthen security efforts across the states, while the joint food hubs will tackle food inflation and ensure food security for all. By fostering stronger collaboration in agriculture, the governors are determined to make food more accessible and affordable to their people.
The forum also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to stabilize the economy, manage the exchange rate, and address petrol prices. These efforts, according to the governors, play a crucial role in national progress.
Key regional issues discussed during the meeting included security, agriculture, economic collaboration, and the creation of the Southwest Development Commission. The commission is expected to serve as a catalyst for coordinated development across the states.
