SPIN Urges Firms to Integrate Sustainability into Core Business Strategy

The Sustainability Professionals Institute of Nigeria (SPIN) has urged companies to move sustainability beyond reporting and regulatory compliance and integrate it into their core business strategies.

The call was made at SPIN’s inaugural Sustainability Conference, held on August 20, 2026, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, under the theme, “The Adaptive Enterprise: Sustainability Strategies for Challenging Times.”

President of SPIN, Prof. Kenneth Amaeshi, said sustainability approaches should be adapted to Nigeria’s economic and institutional realities rather than simply replicating frameworks developed in other markets.

Amaeshi stressed the need for organisations to develop sustainability strategies that respond to local priorities while strengthening resilience, competitiveness and long-term value creation.

The conference brought together business executives, policymakers, investors, financial institutions and sustainability professionals to discuss how organisations can adapt to economic uncertainty, climate-related risks and changing regulatory expectations.
