Super Falcons Begin 2028 Olympic Qualifying Campaign Against Comoros

Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, will begin their quest for a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games when they face Comoros in the first leg of their second-round African qualifying tie at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Friday.

The encounter marks the team’s first step in the qualifying campaign under interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of the October fixtures.

Nigeria received a bye into the second round as one of the competition’s highest-ranked teams, while Comoros secured their place at this stage after defeating Sudan 30–0 on aggregate in the opening round.

The return leg is scheduled for October 13, also at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo. The two-legged contest will determine which team advances to the next stage of the African qualifiers.

The Super Falcons must progress through the remaining knockout rounds to secure one of Africa’s two available places in the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
