Super Falcons Exit WAFCON After 1-0 Defeat to Cameroon

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been eliminated from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a 1-0 quarter-final defeat to Cameroon on Sunday.
The defending champions conceded in the 19th minute when Cameroon’s Myriam Maéva Nyadjou fired a long-range effort into the top corner beyond goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Nigeria pushed for an equaliser and created several chances, but Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina produced crucial saves to preserve her side’s lead, including a notable stop from Uchenna Kanu’s header in the second half.
The defeat at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca ended Nigeria’s bid to retain the continental title and ended their run at the tournament. Cameroon advanced to the semi-finals and also secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
