SYDA BOT MEMBER ACCUSES SAGAMU LGA CHAIRMAN OF PLAYING DIRTY, PLOTTING TO HIJACK SYDA ELECTIONS

Mixed reactions have trailed a statement released on a WhatsApp Group chat by a board of trustee member of the Sabo Youth Development Association, Adewale Ajayi, over an alleged plot by the executive chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate AFO to “unlawfully interfere and influence” the election of the body which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 22nd of October 2022.

The statement reads “We are using this medium to bring the attention of the people of Sagamu to the unlawful intervention and interference of the executive chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate AFO, on the election of Sabo Youth Development Association which was proposed to hold tomorrow, Saturday, October 22nd.

“We have been reliably informed that the LG chairman has directed security agencies to stop the election.

“Few weeks ago, they attempted to imposed their choice candidate and puppet for the presidency of Sabo youth. Unfortunately, their candidate is not sellable and have no grounds to win. Sensing the heavy defeat that was about to loom on them, they resulted to the use of security agencies to intimidate the electoral process.

“We hereby call on all the community leaders and youth stakeholders in Sagamu, to rise against this injustice now. If they are sure of their candidate’s popularity, we challenge them to come out for the election and allow the choice of the youth of Sabo to emerge. We shall resist all attempt by AFO to impose his stooge on us. We know how he became the LG chairman, and we won’t allow such process in our highly democratic Sabo youth.

“We also urge all security agencies in Sagamu to follow the path of justice and fairness on this matter and also to disregard the petitions sent to them by the Chairman or whoever is fronting for him. We are in a democratic era, AFO should stop behaving like a tyrant”

Reacting, other members of the group questioned the basis of his accusation, with a group member, Awotungase Ligali, firing back” The Governor of Sagamu should not interfere with matters in sagamu right?”

There however were those who supported his claim, stating that the Local Government chairman was become unnecessarily self-centered and lawless in his political practice.
