Akpabio, Yari in Tight Race for Senate President Seat

Voting has commenced for the Senate President seat of the 10th National Assembly (NASS) as the race between Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and Senator Godswill Akpabio gets intense. The contest is between Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, and Akpabio, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom State. Both are top-ranking chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Voting began on a state-by-state basis, alphabetically, at exactly 08:45 am. The winner of the Senate President seat will lead the Senate for the next four years and is expected to play a key role in shaping the legislative agenda of the country.
