In a shocking incident, six individuals from Oyan, a town in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria, were abducted by gunmen while returning from a farm. The victims, who were on their way back from Aworo village where their farmlands were located, were attacked by the abductors on Monday around 5:30 pm. Fortunately, a female chief who was among those abducted managed to escape in the early hours of Tuesday.

Following the escape, a joint search and rescue operation was launched by local hunters, police operatives, other security personnel, and volunteers. The operation focused on the bush area close to Kwara State, where the victims were taken. As of Tuesday evening, the remaining five victims were still in the custody of the kidnappers. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the remaining captives.

The community, along with security agencies and local hunters, remains committed to the search and rescue mission. Let us hope and pray for the safe return of the remaining victims and for an end to such incidents in the future.
