Two Individuals Arraigned for Alleged Theft of N3.7 Million from Cooperative Society

 

Adejoke Shuiab, 45, and Aminu Nurudeen, 45, faced charges of stealing and conspiracy as they appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday. The defendants, identified as executive members of Omowunmi Cooperative Thrifts and Loan Credit Society Limited, were accused of defrauding the cooperative society of N2.7 million and N1 million, respectively.

According to the prosecutor, Insp E.O Adaraloye, the alleged thefts occurred between March 5, 2020, and Dec. 23, 2023, at Idi-Orogbo area, Lifestyle, Awori, Ota. The charges brought against Shuiab and Nurudeen contravened Sections 390(6)(8b) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

During the court session, both defendants pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted bail to Shuiab and Nurudeen in the sum of N1 million each. The bail conditions required one surety each, residing within the court’s jurisdiction, and being gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

The case has been adjourned until March 20 for further hearing.
