Ogun Police Heighten Security Measures for Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations

The Ogun State Police Command has announced increased security measures across the state to ensure the safety of residents and prevent criminal activities during the festive period.

Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has directed the deployment of police operatives to praying grounds and critical flashpoints across the state. In a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that areas such as Kemta, Bamboo, Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, Foursquare, and Straight gate will experience heightened security presence, with barricaded stop-and-search operations in place.

Specialized units including Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Counter Terrorism, and Mobile Police will be deployed to prayer grounds to ensure safety and deter potential attacks. Additionally, other security agencies will collaborate with the Ogun State Police Command to patrol major highways and critical locations, including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Sagamu-Benin highway.

The command urged the public, especially visitors entering the state, to cooperate with security personnel and expect thorough security checks at various checkpoints. Residents accessing public facilities such as point-of-sale locations, eateries, lounges, restaurants, and hotels are advised to remain vigilant and secure their belongings to avoid falling victim to criminal activities.
