IGP Receives Warm Welcome from Akarigbo During Visit, Assures Enhanced Security Collaboration

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Oluwakayode Adeolu Egbetokun, received a warm reception from the Akarigbo of Remo Land, Oba Victor Adewale Babatunde Ajayi, CFR, LL.M, LL.B, FCA, FBIR, during his visit to the palace.


The visit saw the entourage of the IGP, including key police officials and dignitaries, gather to address pertinent security issues and strengthen ties with traditional rulers in Ogun State.


Oba Musiliu Soile of Idado, in his capacity, introduced the gathering of kings present, emphasizing the significance of their collective support in ensuring the safety and well-being of their communities.

In his address, IGP Egbetokun expressed gratitude to Oba Ajayi and other traditional rulers for their unwavering support to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Remo and Ogun State. He reaffirmed the commitment of the police to collaborate closely with traditional institutions to enhance security and maintain law and order in the region.


The paramount ruler of Remo, Oba Victor Adewale Babatunde Ajayi, lauded the efforts of the NPF in addressing security challenges in the area. He pledged continued support and cooperation from the traditional institution to complement the police force’s initiatives.


Highlighting key concerns, Oba Ajayi addressed issues such as land grabbing and the need for effective policing strategies to tackle emerging security threats. He called attention to the establishment of essential police infrastructure, including a police secondary school and a built-up police station in Ipara, underscoring the importance of adequate personnel deployment.


Among the notable personalities present were the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Abiodun Alamutu, and Assistant IGP in charge of Zone II (Ogun and Lagos State Command), AIG Olatoye Dunrosinmi. Additionally, former police officials shared insights on security enhancement strategies during the interactive session.


The visit concluded with prayers for the success of the IGP’s initiatives and a commitment to ongoing collaboration between the police and traditional institutions to ensure the safety and security of communities in Ogun State.
