OGSG Shuts Down Two Firms Over Environmental Violations

The Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWMA) has sealed off two Chinese companies, Yibao Industrial Limited and Ronchang Industrial Park, for contravening environmental laws. The shutdown follows repeated warnings and notices served to the companies, which they allegedly ignored.

According to a statement released by the OGWMA on Sunday, the companies were found guilty of littering their premises with waste, in violation of Section 17 of the Ogun State Waste Management Law 2020. Additionally, they engaged unaccredited waste collectors, contravening Section 17 of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority Law of 2020.

OGWMA Managing Director Abayomi Hunye led an enforcement team to seal the premises, citing the companies’ refusal to comply with standard waste management practices despite multiple warnings and counseling sessions.

“The shutdown is intended to ensure compliance with environmental regulations,” Hunye stated. “We will not tolerate gross disrespect for constituted authority, regardless of ownership. Any company found guilty of similar violations will face sanctions.”

The affected companies, Yibao Industrial Limited and Ronchang Industrial Park, are located in Bara Village and opposite Julius Berger yard on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, respectively.
