The revered monarch, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 91.
His death occurred on Sunday, just hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a longtime friend of the Awujale.
Oba Adetona, who ascended the throne in 1960, was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning and most respected traditional rulers. He was a prominent voice among Yoruba monarchs and held great influence across the nation.
