550 New Operatives Join Ogun Amotekun Corps at Batch ‘E’ Passing-Out Parade
The Passing-Out Parade Ceremony of Batch ‘E’ trainees of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, was held on Friday, 18th July 2025, at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu. The event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Ogun State Government to strengthen community-based security and further enhance safety across all regions of the state.
The ceremony began with the arrival of dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele FNSE, who represented the Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON. Other notable attendees were the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, the Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (rtd), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola (rtd), former Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salmat Makanjuola Badru, former Head of Service, Elder Shola Adeyemi, as well as several service commanders, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, permanent secretaries, and security stakeholders.
After the inspection of the Quarter Guard and parade by the Reviewing Officer, the newly trained recruits performed a parade march in slow and quick time, a combat march, and a review order parade to the admiration of all present. These displays reflected the discipline and training the recruits had undergone over the past two weeks.
In his welcome address, the Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba (rtd), expressed deep appreciation to the State Governor for his unwavering support and commitment to security, describing him as a “Talk and Do Governor.” He highlighted the significance of the day as 550 new operatives officially joined the Amotekun Corps, out of the 1,000 recruits approved for training following the Batch D graduation held 183 days prior. The Commander also commended the Governor for his numerous interventions including the approval of the new minimum wage for operatives, provision of uniforms, enhanced mobility through additional operational vehicles and motorcycles, and continuous funding for logistics support.
Brig. Gen. Adedigba also provided updates on recent developments within the agency, including the near-completion of plans to enroll operatives into the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) for injury protection, renovation of office accommodations across the state, quarterly training programs for capacity building, and the ongoing installation of security cameras at strategic locations like Gateway Airport, Panseke Bridge, and Ogere Toll Gate. He also disclosed that Amotekun operatives had been deployed to major corridors and rural areas, including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Monument Park–Ore axis, and Area J4/Ajebandele Forest, to combat illegal activities and reinforce security across the state.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, congratulated the graduating officers and encouraged them to serve with honor, dedication, and professionalism. She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to continuously improving the welfare, training, and operational readiness of the Amotekun Corps to keep Ogun State safe.
The event also featured a cultural display by the Ogun State cultural troupe, a symbolic national salute, and hearty cheers to the Reviewing Officer. With the passing out of 550 gallant recruits, the agency has taken a bold step forward in ensuring the safety of lives and property, particularly in rural areas.
In conclusion, the successful completion of the Batch ‘E’ training marks another proud moment for the Ogun State Government and its security agenda. The recruits are now fully equipped and ready to contribute meaningfully to the safety and stability of the state, and their induction is expected to further improve grassroots security across all local government areas.
