Former EFCC Driver to Be Arrested for Holding on to Agency Property After Dismissal

In a statement posted Monday on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sharply criticized one of its former employees, Olakunle Alex Folarin, for appearing on a social-media matchmaking show hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.

Folarin had worked as a driver at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate until he was dismissed for forging his academic certificates. Despite his termination, he is believed to be in possession of EFCC property—including an official identity card—that should have been returned upon his exit.

EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede has ordered security operatives to arrest Folarin and recover all remaining commission belongings. The agency stressed that Folarin’s post-dismissal activities do not reflect the EFCC’s values or conduct.

The EFCC statement concluded by urging the public not to link Folarin’s matchmaking-show appearance or any other personal endeavors to the commission.
