Nigerian Army Achieves Major Milestones in Fight Against Insurgency, Neutralizes 25 Terrorists, Rescues Victims, Seizes Weapons Nationwide

The Nigerian Army has achieved significant progress in its ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and restore peace in the country. In recent coordinated operations, troops successfully neutralized at least 25 fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a notorious terrorist group operating in Nigeria and neighboring countries. These operations took place across multiple states, including Borno, Adamawa, Zamfara, Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, Delta, Bayelsa, and Imo, demonstrating the military’s nationwide reach and determination.
Apart from eliminating insurgents, the military also rescued numerous kidnapping victims, bringing relief to families affected by insurgent attacks. During these operations, security forces arrested individuals suspected of providing logistical support to terror groups, such as those involved in transporting weapons, explosives, and fuel used in insurgent activities. The troops also seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and petroleum products, which are believed to be used to sustain insurgent operations and attacks.
The Defence Headquarters has reiterated its commitment to eradicating insecurity and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens. They emphasized that these operations are part of a broader strategy to weaken insurgent networks, dismantle their supply chains, and restore stability to the affected regions. The military also assured that efforts are ongoing to improve intelligence gathering and strengthen security cooperation across states.
The success of these operations highlights the resilience and professionalism of Nigerian troops in the fight against insurgency. While challenges remain, the military’s recent achievements serve as a hopeful sign that Nigeria is making progress toward ending insurgent activities and establishing lasting peace across the nation. The government and security agencies continue to call on citizens to support security efforts and remain vigilant as the fight against terrorism progresses.
