Ogun Police Foil Robbery in Sagamu, Recover Suspect’s Vehicle and Fireworks

The Ogun State Police Command announced that its officers successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in Sagamu on Wednesday, confiscating the vehicle used by the suspects following a quick and coordinated response by officers from Sakura Division, Sagamu.

Police Public Relations Officer CSP Omolola Odutola stated in a press release that around 1:45 a.m., a distress call was received from the CDC Chairman of Okearedi, Araromi, near Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway, reporting that about five hoodlums were attempting to force entry into a residence within the community.

She explained, “Prompt action was taken by Sakura Division operatives, and upon spotting the patrol team, the suspects fled in different directions, resulting in a hot pursuit by the police.”

The suspects’ vehicle—a black Lexus GS 350 with registration number OGUN TTD 452 TT—was recovered at the entrance of the community. A search of the vehicle revealed fireworks (knockouts) believed to have been intended for distraction during the operation.

Ogunlowo commended the officers for their timely and professional response. The police chief also disclosed that the command has enhanced its security measures by deploying personnel to critical locations across the state as part of end-of-year security strategies.

He urged residents to remain vigilant, especially when entering their homes or estates late at night, and recommended that well-lit environments could help deter criminal activities. The police also advised the public to stay informed through the command’s verified social media channels for updates and real-time security alerts.
