Sagamu LG Convenes Emergency Security Meeting, Introduces New Measures to Curb Rising Crime
The Sagamu Local Government Authority has rolled out a series of new security measures following an emergency security meeting held earlier today in response to the rising cases of burglary and other threats to public safety. The meeting, attended by all security agencies, was chaired by the Vice Chairman, Comrade Isiaka Salami, who represented the Executive Chairman currently on official assignment.
During the session, the council reviewed the growing concerns around insecurity in various communities and agreed on fresh directives to restore order. Under the new measures, motorcycles and tricycles will now operate strictly between 6am and 8pm, while the use of knockouts and fireworks during the festive season has been banned. The council also announced that all-night gatherings, social events and religious programmes must obtain clearance from the Area Divisional Police before holding any activities.
In a bid to strengthen grassroots security, CDC and CDA Chairmen have been tasked with collaborating more closely with local security outfits to ensure the safety of their neighbourhoods. Residents were urged to report suspicious activities and warned that individuals spreading rumours or false information to induce panic—especially on social media—will face prosecution.
The Joint Security Task Force has since begun a 24-hour patrol across the local government area to enforce the directives. Authorities appealed for public cooperation, noting that keeping Sagamu safe requires collective effort and vigilance from every resident. “If you see something, say something,” the council reminded.
