APC Warns Against Blackmail, Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency and Justice.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the opposition of becoming increasingly desperate and reckless in their pursuit of power. Mogaji Seye Oladejo, APC Lagos State spokesman, stated that opposition parties are now demanding political immunity from scrutiny and accountability, revealing their lack of ideas and credibility.
In a statement, Oladejo criticized opposition figures for demanding immunity from investigation, especially in light of recent arrests of some opposition members over alleged corruption while in office. He argued that their actions are driven by fear and a desire to escape accountability rather than genuine concern for justice or political reform. The APC spokesman described the opposition’s behavior as shameful and motivated by a desperation to cling to relevance, even if it means seeking immunity they are not entitled to under Nigeria’s democratic framework.
Oladejo emphasized that the opposition has no convincing record to defend or coherent alternative vision for Nigeria’s future. Instead, they are resorting to accusations of persecution whenever they are challenged or questioned about their past performance. He accused them of wanting power without responsibility and relevance without achievement, asserting that such tactics are outdated and unacceptable in a democratic society.
He further warned that the government would not be coerced into granting immunity to politicians who have not earned the trust of Nigerians. Oladejo reiterated that immunity is not a political tool and that attempts to portray the government as persecuting opposition figures are baseless and intended to cover up documented failures. The APC remains committed to transparency and accountability, dismissing threats of blackmail or political blackmail aimed at undermining Nigeria’s democracy.
