Kaduna Insecurity Worsens: Bandits Attack Kajuru, Kidnap Six Residents.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted six residents of Unguwar Barkono, Mararaban Kajuru, in Kufana Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack occurred late Saturday night, shortly after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) held prayers for the safe return of 177 worshippers kidnapped earlier.
According to reports, the bandits stormed several homes around 1:00 a.m., breaking into residences and forcibly kidnapping residents to an unknown location. Resident Steven Kefas described the raid as occurring in the heart of Kajuru, not in a remote area, highlighting the severity of the attack.
CAN Chairman in Kajuru, Rev. Enoch Kaura, confirmed that the abduction took place around 11:00 p.m., with the bandits fleeing after neighbors raised the alarm. He expressed concern over the incident, which comes just hours after a special prayer session at Tawaliu Baptist Church on Sunday aimed at securing the safe return of those abducted in Kurmin Wali.
Rev. Joseph John Hayab, CAN Chairman for the 19 Northern States and FCT, condemned the attacks, urging churches to improve internal security measures. He warned that the unrestricted access of residents and worshippers makes them vulnerable to further attacks and called on authorities to increase security operations in Kajuru.
The recent string of kidnappings in Kaduna underscores the rising insecurity in the region. Residents and religious leaders are calling for urgent government intervention to tackle banditry, secure the release of all abducted persons, and restore peace to the area. The community remains on edge as security agencies intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent future attacks.
