A security guard identified as Stanley was tragically shot dead during a suspected cult-related attack at Royale Estate in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State. The incident occurred late on Friday night when armed gunmen stormed the estate, opening fire before fleeing the scene.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the attackers arrived between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., targeting the estate with gunfire. Stanley, who was on duty as a security officer, was struck multiple times, including a fatal shot to the head. Witnesses reported that the assailants stormed the estate, shot at Stanley repeatedly, and then fired into the air before escaping.
The attack sparked widespread reactions on social media, with users sharing videos and posts suggesting that cult members might be behind the violence. However, the Lagos State Police Command has yet to officially confirm any cult involvement.
The police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the shooting on Monday, stating that preliminary investigations indicate the attack was carried out by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle. “The incident occurred. He was shot by two unknown individuals on a motorcycle. The command has launched an investigation into the incident. No suspects yet,” Adebisi said. The police have not disclosed the motive behind the attack or confirmed whether the assailants are linked to cult activities.
This incident adds to the growing concerns about violence and cult-related activities in Lagos and its surrounding areas.
