Abiodun, Adebutu, Yayi Expected at Ogere Remo 50th Anniversary
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi; and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, are among dignitaries expected at the 50th anniversary of Ogere Remo Founder’s Day, popularly known as Lipakala Day.
The Golden Jubilee celebration, which marks 50 years since the establishment of Lipakala Day in 1976, is scheduled to culminate on October 17, 2026, in Ogere Remo. The anniversary is expected to bring together traditional rulers, community leaders, political figures, residents, indigenes and friends of the town.
According to the anniversary media sub-committee chairman, Dare Adekanmbi, Adeola and Adebutu are expected to attend the grand finale as special guests of honour, while former President of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Dr Victor Alonge, is expected to chair the occasion. Governor Abiodun is listed as the chief host.
The celebration will also feature a fundraising initiative targeting ₦2.5 billion for infrastructural development in Ogere Remo. The community’s official anniversary programme confirms the October 17 grand finale and identifies infrastructure development as a major focus of the Golden Jubilee.
The Ologere of Ogere Remo, Oba James Obafemi Saliu, described the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the community’s heritage, recognise its founding fathers and acknowledge individuals who have contributed to its development.
The 50th anniversary is therefore expected to combine cultural celebration with community development efforts as Ogere Remo marks five decades of Lipakala Day and looks ahead to further infrastructure and social development
