ABIODUN DEEPENS LABOUR ENGAGEMENTS AHEAD OF 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has continued his consultations with key stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, meeting with leaders and members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The meeting offered the governor and organised labour an opportunity to discuss workers’ welfare, address issues affecting the workforce and consider ways to maintain cooperation in support of Ogun State’s development.

Abiodun acknowledged the important contribution of workers and the labour movement to the state’s economic growth, stability and overall progress. He noted that public servants play a vital role in sustaining government operations and delivering services to residents.

The governor also expressed appreciation to the NLC and TUC leadership and members for receiving him and taking part in the discussions. He commended their contributions and willingness to maintain dialogue with his administration.

The engagement is part of Abiodun’s ongoing consultations with stakeholders across Ogun State as political activity gradually builds ahead of the 2027 elections. The meetings are intended to provide opportunities for discussion with groups whose members contribute to the state’s public life and economy.

During the meeting, the governor reiterated the value of constructive engagement, mutual understanding and cooperation between government and organised labour. He said continued dialogue is important to addressing workers’ concerns and advancing the interests of the state.

Abiodun said his administration recognises the role of labour in building a prosperous and inclusive Ogun State, and stressed the importance of working together to support development.

The meeting comes amid the governor’s wider outreach to groups and individuals across the state. By engaging labour leaders and members, the administration is seeking to sustain communication on workforce concerns while strengthening cooperation with organised labour.

Both sides used the meeting to exchange views on matters affecting workers and the state. The discussion also provided a platform to consider how government and labour can continue working together in the period ahead.

Abiodun’s engagement with the NLC and TUC underscores the importance of maintaining a relationship between the administration and workers’ representatives. As consultations continue, the governor has emphasised that dialogue and collaboration remain central to his approach to stakeholder engagement and Ogun State’s development.
