Aviation Stakeholders Clash Over 5% Ticket Sales Charge Sharing Formula
Stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation sector are divided over the sharing formula for the five per cent Ticket Sales Charge (TSC), with aviation agencies pushing competing positions on how the funds should be allocated.
Under the existing formula, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) receives 56 per cent, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) 22 per cent, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) nine per cent, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) seven per cent and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) six per cent.
The disagreement has intensified as proposals to review the formula come before the National Assembly. NAMA is seeking a larger share to support air navigation infrastructure and other critical operations, while the NCAA has opposed any reduction in its allocation.
The issue remains under consideration, with stakeholders expected to make further submissions before any decision is reached on a new sharing arrangement.
The existing 5% TSC sharing formula remains in place, while the debate over a possible review continues among aviation stakeholders and lawmakers.
