Egbe Degbuyi Remo, a foremost traditional age-grade group in Remoland, has appointed Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN, the first female Accountant General of the Federation, as a Matron of the group in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of Remoland, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
According to the leadership of the group, the appointment is in celebration of Dr. MADEIN’s visionary leadership, selfless service, and steadfast commitment to societal advancement. The group noted that her contributions have left an enduring impact on the preservation of traditional heritage and the promotion of national development.
The appointment is regarded as a significant milestone for Egbe Degbuyi Remo, as the group looks forward to benefiting from Dr. MADEIN’s wealth of experience, wisdom, and guidance. The group expressed confidence that her role as Matron will further strengthen its advisory structure and enhance its efforts toward community development and the advancement of the noble aspirations of Remoland.
Responding to the honour, Dr. MADEIN expressed her appreciation to the group for finding her worthy of the appointment. She pledged her continued support and commitment to the positive ideals of the group, particularly its initiatives aimed at promoting human development and uplifting communities.
Egbe Degbuyi Remo is a respected traditional age-grade group comprising accomplished Remo sons at home and in the diaspora who have distinguished themselves in various professional fields. The group enjoys the support of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale AJAYI who serves as its Grand Patron.
The investiture ceremony for Dr. MADEIN as Matron will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Royal Haven Event Centre, GRA, Sagamu. The event will coincide with the group’s 8th Anniversary Celebration, which will feature the induction of new members, presentation of awards, and fundraising activities toward the completion of a permanent clubhouse, as well as other community intervention projects.
The letter of appointment, dated 2nd March, 2026, was jointly signed by the Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Gbuyi Saheed Olawale OLOYEDE, and the Otun Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Gbuyi Dr. Olajuwon Ariyo ABIJO
Speaking on the group’s mission, the leadership emphasized that the uniqueness of Egbe Degbuyi Remo lies in its hands-on commitment to community development through targeted Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in education, healthcare, and other critical sectors, while preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Remoland.
Over the years, these interventions have contributed to sustainable development, improved access to healthcare, and strengthened the social and cultural fabric of communities across Remoland.
Born on 7th March 1965 in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN’s life has been defined by discipline, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to humanity. She obtained her Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, and later earned postgraduate and master’s degrees in Business Administration from Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye. She also holds a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) and a doctoral degree in Management Finance from Walden University, Minnesota, USA.
A Fellow of ACCA, ANAN, ICAN, IASP, and the Society for West Africa Internal Audit Practitioners, Dr. MADEIN built a remarkable career spanning over three decades in the Federal Civil Service. She served in several strategic Ministries and Agencies, rising through the ranks through diligence, competence, and integrity.
Her historic appointment as the first female Accountant-General of the Federation marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s public financial administration. Under her leadership, reforms such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA), GIFMIS implementation, and improved FAAC transparency strengthened accountability, enhanced cash management, and promoted fiscal discipline across government institutions.
Beyond public office, Dr. MADEIN is widely admired for her calm disposition, exemplary leadership, and mentorship. She remained approachable and composed even under intense national scrutiny, earning widespread respect as a disciplined technocrat and dependable public servant.
A proud daughter of Iperu-Remo, she has consistently contributed to the development of her community through infrastructure projects, empowerment programmes, educational support, and humanitarian interventions. Through the Olowo Oloye Foundation and the Olowo Oloye ICT Centre, she has provided scholarships, ICT training, and support for widows, women, youths, and vulnerable persons.
Her numerous recognitions include the Guardian Newspaper Seven Wonder Women Award and listing among Africa’s 50 Power People by Exquisite Magazine in partnership with the African Women CEOs Network.
Dr. MADEIN is also a devoted wife to Engr. Sir Adeleke Olusina MADEIN and a proud mother of four successful children. Her life exemplifies service above self, leadership with humility, and excellence without ostentation.
As Egbe Degbuyi Remo inaugurates her as its Matron, it is a honour to a woman whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
