Floodwater Submerges Siun–Ogere–Iperu Road as Ogun Approves Reconstruction
Floodwater has submerged a section of the Siun–Ogere–Iperu Road around Ajura in Ogun State, forcing motorists to navigate through the affected portion of the road.
The flooding has also damaged parts of the road carriageway and edges, worsening concerns over the condition of the route and its impact on motorists and residents who depend on the road for movement.
The affected section was observed on Sunday, with floodwater covering portions of the roadway and making passage difficult for motorists.
The Ogun State Government has acknowledged the deterioration and flooding along the route. The state said the Executive Council has approved the comprehensive reconstruction and realignment of the road.
The planned reconstruction is expected to include raising the road profile and constructing a larger box culvert to improve water flow and help reduce recurring flooding and damage to the road.
The Siun–Ogere–Iperu route is an important link between communities in Obafemi Owode and Ikenne Local Government Areas and serves motorists travelling through the Remo axis.
