Messi Reaches 930 Career Goals as Inter Miami Draw 2-2 With San Diego
Lionel Messi reached 930 career goals as Inter Miami were held to a 2-2 draw by San Diego FC in a Major League Soccer encounter on Sunday night.
San Diego took the lead in the 12th minute when Anders Dreyer raced onto a through ball from Jeppe Tverskov before lifting the ball over Inter Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.
Messi restored parity in the 24th minute after winning a free kick just outside the penalty area. The Argentine curled a left-footed effort toward goal, with the ball striking the post before crossing the line beyond San Diego goalkeeper CJ dos Santos.
Inter Miami later moved ahead through Luis Suárez in the 74th minute, but San Diego responded eight minutes later when Dreyer scored his second goal of the night to make it 2-2.
The result gave both sides a point, while Messi’s free-kick goal marked his 20th MLS goal of the 2026 season and his 101st goal for Inter Miami.
