Kicking off Yesterday June 1, the initiative seeks to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery, especially among underserved communities and indigent citizens .
Today’s event, held at the Remo GDF secretariat on Ilisan-Iperu Road in Ikenne Local Government, marked the midpoint of the campaign. The outreach drew volunteers from OOUTH, Remo GDF, and other partner organizations, all working tirelessly to provide essential health services.
During today’s session, approximately 300 community members received health insurance cards, a significant step toward enhancing their access to quality healthcare. The distribution was part of the foundation’s broader campaign to promote universal health coverage in the region. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing how the insurance cards would reduce out-of-pocket expenses and encourage regular health check-ups.
The outreach also featured free health screenings, health education, and consultations, targeting common ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, and malaria. Medical professionals and volunteers emphasized the importance of health insurance as a means to safeguard families from unexpected medical costs and to promote preventive health measures.
The director of the Foundation Dr Adebayo Akintobi highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in strengthening Nigeria’s health system. “This initiative exemplifies how partnerships can bring tangible benefits to our communities, making healthcare more accessible and affordable,” he stated.
