The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has received an Anti-Corruption Ambassador Award from the Fight Against Corruption Organisation (FACO).

The award was presented at the Board’s Conference Room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in recognition of Ifede’s integrity, diligence and performance in public service.

FACO said Ifede was selected for his commitment to honesty, transparency and accountability in the offices he has held, as well as his leadership of Ogun SUBEB. The organisation formally named him an Anti-Corruption Ambassador during its visit to the Board.

In his response, Ifede thanked FACO for its work to combat corruption in Nigeria. He said he had consistently observed financial regulations and public service rules in administering the Board and pledged to continue supporting efforts to promote integrity in public life.

He also called on Nigerians to be content with what they acquire legitimately and to contribute to the collective fight against corrupt practices. Ifede attributed SUBEB’s achievements to teamwork and assured FACO of the Board’s continued support. He urged the organisation to exercise due diligence when selecting recipients for its awards.

FACO Executive Chairman Dr Francis Shopekan explained that the organisation works to eradicate corruption through collaboration with civil society groups and public awareness initiatives. Its activities include encouraging religious leaders to speak against corruption and supporting efforts to improve Nigeria’s standing internationally.

Shopekan said tackling corruption was a shared responsibility and encouraged Nigerians to join FACO’s campaign for a better nation. He said the award recognised Ifede’s record of service and commitment to accountability.

Earlier, Board Secretary Mrs Olubunmi Oso welcomed the FACO delegation and praised the organisation’s efforts to promote integrity and fight corruption. She thanked FACO for recognising the SUBEB chairman’s contributions to public service.

Director of Administration and Supplies Mr Femi Fatade delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed appreciation for the organisation’s visit and for selecting Ifede for the honour, urging FACO to continue its work to advance integrity and accountability.

The award ceremony brought together officials of SUBEB and FACO to recognise Ifede’s public service record and highlight the importance of transparency and collective action in addressing corruption.
