IPYA EXPLORES IMEKO’S HERITAGE: OSURU WATERFALLS AND AHORO ILE ORÍSUN.

The Imeko Progressive Youth Alliance (IPYA) has explored two notable heritage and tourism sites in Imeko—Osuru Waterfalls and Ahoro Ile Orísun—as part of its Agbinrekoti Festival Tourism Documentary Programme.
The expedition aimed to document and promote the community’s natural attractions and cultural heritage, while raising awareness of Imeko’s potential as a tourism destination.
At Osuru Waterfalls, participants experienced the site’s cascading waters, lush landscape and tranquil surroundings. The natural setting, the group noted, offers opportunities for eco-tourism, recreation and cultural exploration. With careful development and preservation, the waterfall could attract visitors while supporting local tourism initiatives.
The team also visited Ahoro Ile Orísun, a site closely connected to Imeko’s history, identity and spiritual heritage. Its significance extends beyond its physical features: it reflects traditions, stories and ancestral values that continue to shape the community’s cultural identity.
Together, the two locations illustrate the range of Imeko’s heritage, where natural beauty and cultural meaning intersect. IPYA’s visit provided an opportunity to share these places with a wider audience and highlight their importance to residents and future generations.
Through the documentary programme, the alliance is working to record, preserve and promote the rich heritage of Imeko. By documenting local sites and stories, IPYA hopes to strengthen public awareness of the area’s tourism potential and encourage sustainable development that respects both the environment and the community’s traditions.
The initiative is not simply a tour, organisers said, but a journey of discovery and storytelling. It seeks to present Imeko through the perspectives of its people, giving residents a role in sharing the history and significance of their homeland.
The programme also underscores the importance of safeguarding heritage sites as tourism interest grows. Responsible promotion can help ensure that natural and cultural landmarks are valued without compromising their character or meaning.
With Osuru Waterfalls and Ahoro Ile Orísun among the sites featured, IPYA’s documentary project celebrates Imeko’s landscape, history and living traditions. Our Heritage. Our Pride. Our Story.
