Kara–Berger Bridge Repairs Begin Today, Motorists Warned of Delays

The Federal Government is commencing a two-week repair of the Kara–Berger Bridge on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway today, Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The intervention involves the replacement of deteriorating expansion joints on the bridge and is scheduled to continue until September 22.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, said motorists should expect lane restrictions and intermittent traffic delays, particularly during peak travel periods, as traffic-management measures are implemented around the construction area.

TRACE said traffic and security agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Nigeria Police Force, will be deployed to regulate movement and maintain safety along the corridor.

Motorists travelling between Lagos and Ogun, as well as other road users on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, have been advised to plan their journeys ahead, allow extra travel time, obey temporary traffic signs and follow the instructions of traffic officials.

The repairs are intended to improve road safety and restore the structural integrity of the busy bridge while minimising disruption to traffic.
