A mechanic identified as Samson has been tragically murdered in Lagos State, Nigeria, after being lured to a location under false pretenses. The incident occurred on September 15 in the Abijo area of Ibeju-Lekki, a suburb in Lagos. According to police sources, Samson, who operated a workshop near Warike Estate, was contacted to repair a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. He proceeded to the designated location, but upon arrival, he was taken into a nearby bush and murdered.

The Lagos Police Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the police are actively investigating the case. Initial reports suggest that the killing may be linked to ongoing cult conflicts in the area. Police sources suspect that members of a cult group could be responsible, although no arrests have been made yet.

Further insights from an anti-cultism advocacy group indicate that Samson’s killing might be a retaliatory act. The group claims that the murder was carried out in response to the killing of an individual identified as Ola Sheu, a member of the Eiye cult, who was reportedly murdered on September 9. The advocacy group explained that Ola Sheu’s identity was revealed after a picture of him wearing an Eiye cult beret surfaced publicly during his birthday celebration, which allegedly led to his assassination by rival cultists. The killing of Samson is believed to be a retaliatory response to this earlier violence.

In a statement released by the police on Sunday, Adebisi noted that Samson’s family reported him missing, prompting investigators to visit his residence and search for clues. Efforts are underway to track Samson’s mobile phone in hopes of locating him. The police have assured the public that the investigation remains ongoing as they seek justice for the victim.
