Makinde Condemns Disruption of Obi’s Benue Visit

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has condemned the disruption of the convoy of former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi during his visit to Benue State.
Obi’s convoy was reportedly blocked by youths on Tuesday, September 8, while he was travelling towards Yelwata in Benue State. Reports and video footage from the incident showed the convoy being prevented from proceeding, forcing it to turn back.
Reacting to the incident, Makinde condemned the obstruction and called for appropriate action to prevent such incidents, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify.
Makinde also criticised the All Progressives Congress over what he described as attempts to frustrate opposition activities and argued that the party was facing difficulties in promoting President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. These remarks represent Makinde’s political assessment and have not been independently established as facts.
The circumstances surrounding the obstruction and the identities or affiliations of those involved remain matters requiring official investigation. The incident has nevertheless raised concerns about political tolerance and the safety of political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
