NUC Approves Four New Postgraduate Programmes for McPherson University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved four postgraduate programmes for McPherson University, Ogun State, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval was contained in a letter dated June 19 and signed by the Commission’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC.
According to the Commission, the approval followed a resource verification visit by a panel of experts to the university to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
The approved programmes include Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mass Communication, Microbiology, Business Management, and History and Diplomatic Studies.
The programmes are to be offered on a full-time basis at the university’s main campus, beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval expands McPherson University’s postgraduate academic offerings and is expected to provide prospective students with additional opportunities for advanced study and research in the four disciplines.
