NYCN Ogun West to Protest 3-Year Power Outage

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State West Senatorial District in Ogun West Senatorial District is set to protest against the non-availability of power supply for over three years in their region.

The protest is scheduled to start by 10am on Thursday, from Sango Under Bridge and terminate at the IBEDC Office.

In a protest letter signed by the group’s Vice-Chairman Kehinde Damilola Olorunjubelo and Organising Secretary, Kojeku Adeyemi, addressed to the IBEDC Management, security agencies and the general public, said: “This protest is in response to the prolonged power outages affecting over 16 communities in Yewa North Local Government Area and other communities in Ogun West at large, which has persisted for over three years and the failure of the IBEDC Technical Section to meet up with our request in the letter sent to them on the 15th of November, 2024.

“This action of negligence shows that the IBEDC is less concerned about the well-being of our people and the failure of IBEDC to attend to the youths leadership request as stated in our letter between today (Monday) and Tuesday 2nd of December will leave us with no option than to engage the last ‘C’ in struggle.

“We assure you that the protest will be peaceful and lawful. We urge the IBEDC management to take immediate action to address our grievances.’’

The youths listed their complaints as follows: restoration of full power supply to Yewa North Local Government Communities; and stoppage of intermittent supply.
