Oyebanji Orders DGs, Advisers to Submit Handover Notes.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has disengaged all directors-general and technical advisers serving in government agencies as his administration prepares for his second term.

The decision takes effect immediately. The affected officials have been directed to submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, announced the move in a statement on Tuesday. He said the disengagement completes the process of ending appointments held by political appointees in the current administration, apart from a few officials whose appointments have been retained because of the nature of their duties.

Oyebanji thanked the departing directors-general and technical advisers for their support, commitment and contributions to his administration and Ekiti State. He also wished them success in their future endeavours.

The latest decision follows the dissolution of the State Executive Council, announced less than 24 hours earlier. The governor is winding down his first term ahead of his inauguration for a second term on October 16.

Oyebanji had begun a wider review of political appointments on September 27, when he dissolved the boards of government agencies, commissions and parastatals and terminated the appointments of political aides.

At the time, directors-general and technical advisers were excluded from the exercise. Their disengagement now completes the process, although the governor’s statement said a small number of appointments had been retained because of the responsibilities involved.

The changes affect political appointees across the state’s government agencies as the administration prepares for its next term. The statement did not name the officials whose appointments were retained or provide further details about the handover arrangements.Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration is scheduled for Thursday, October 16.
