PDP Stakeholders Urge Unity and Voter Education Ahead of 2027 Elections.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders and members met in Erinwonran, Ijebu-East Local Government Area, on Sunday to strengthen grassroots organisation and prepare for the 2027 general elections.

The gathering, held at Erinwonran Polling Unit, brought together the Chairman of Owu-Ijebu Ward 5, Ehin-Osun stakeholders and local party members. Discussions focused on polling-unit coordination, voter education, community priorities and mobilisation across the ward’s 16 polling units.

Party leaders urged members to remain disciplined, united and actively involved in party activities. They said sustained communication and effective supervision at polling-unit level would be essential to building the party’s presence in local communities.

The Ward 5 chairman also asked members to prepare for the anticipated visit of Ogun State PDP governorship candidate Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu to Ehin-Osun and Owu-Ijebu. He called for coordinated participation and stronger engagement with residents.

Participants discussed Nigeria’s economic difficulties, including rising living costs, unemployment and access to healthcare. They expressed concern about the effects on low-income families, young people and other vulnerable groups, and said public policies should be assessed by their impact on people’s lives. The stakeholders urged voters to consider PDP candidates in 2027, saying the party could offer an alternative approach to governance and public services.

Agriculture and rural development were also raised. Stakeholders criticised what they described as insufficient attention to rural communities under successive APC administrations in Ogun State. They called for agricultural assistance, improved infrastructure, better access to markets and greater investment in local productivity.

The meeting condemned political intimidation and violence, citing concerns about alleged threats involving political actors. Participants called on parties and supporters to respect opposing views, follow electoral laws and ensure voters can participate without fear. They urged eligible residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), learn voting procedures and cast their ballots peacefully.

Residents also highlighted community needs, including boreholes, solar-powered streetlights, more educational facilities, support for women and children, and agricultural assistance. Party representatives acknowledged the requests and expressed confidence that the PDP would work to address them.

Erinwonran members reaffirmed their support for PDP candidates for governor, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly. They thanked party leaders for their guidance, including Engr. Ayinde Awobadejo, Ogun East PDP Senatorial District Chairman, Hon. Lawal Nureni Olajuwon, Ijebu-East PDP chairman, and Hon. Aliu Raji, Owu-Ijebu Ward 5 chairman.

The meeting concluded with calls for unity, voter awareness and continued grassroots engagement ahead of the elections.
