Imeko Youth Impact Walk Promotes Unity and Cultural Heritage at Agbinrekoti Festival.

Young people and community stakeholders gathered for the Imeko Youth Impact Walk on Friday, September 25, as part of activities marking the 2026 Agbinrekoti Festival.

Organised by the Imeko Youth Congress (IYC), the walk promoted unity, cultural pride and community development. Participants set out from Custom Barracks, using the event to highlight the role of young people in preserving Imeko’s heritage and contributing to the community’s progress.

The walk was led by the Olori-odo of Imeko Land and IYC president, Comrade Aigoro Musharaf. His leadership, the organisation said, continues to encourage youth participation, peaceful coexistence and shared responsibility in advancing Imeko Land.

Guided by the slogans “Unity Walk! Walk for Impact! Walk for Development!”, the initiative called on residents to strengthen community bonds and work together towards a peaceful and inclusive future. It also encouraged young people to channel their energy, creativity and talents into meaningful contributions to local development.

The IYC said the walk formed an important part of the festival’s youth-focused programme. The Agbinrekoti Festival celebrates the traditions, identity and cultural heritage of the people of Imeko, while activities such as the Impact Walk and Imeko Youth Fiesta offer opportunities for young people to take an active role in that celebration.

Organisers noted that cultural festivals can serve purposes beyond entertainment and the preservation of tradition. They can also bring residents together, encourage civic engagement and mobilise young people around community priorities.

The successful event, according to the IYC, reflected its commitment to initiatives that support cultural preservation, unity and sustainable development across Imeko Land. It also provided participants with an opportunity to celebrate their shared identity as sons and daughters of the community.

As the festival concluded, the walk’s organisers reiterated that the development of Imeko requires the collective efforts of traditional institutions, community leaders, stakeholders and residents—particularly its youth population. They called for continued unity, peaceful coexistence and sustained youth involvement in community affairs.
