Police Investigate Alleged Pestle Killing in Bauchi.

A man in Bauchi State has been hospitalised after suffering severe trauma following the alleged killing of his wife by his co-wife, police have said.

The Bauchi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the husband’s hospitalisation while responding to questions about the case on Thursday. He did not provide details about the man’s condition.

Police identified the deceased as Jamila Adamu and the suspect as Hauwa’u Haruna, 33. The two women lived in the same home at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate in Bauchi. Haruna, who was reportedly the second wife, is alleged to have struck Adamu on the forehead with a pestle.

Habib said the women had reportedly been involved in repeated disagreements before the incident. According to the police, detectives from C-Division went to the residence after receiving a report and found that the suspect had allegedly acted while experiencing hallucinations.

The blow reportedly caused Adamu to lose consciousness. She was taken to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor pronounced her dead. Her body was placed in the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

“The scene was documented, and the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor,” Habib said.

Police arrested Haruna and recovered the pestle believed to have been used in the attack as an exhibit. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Habib said the investigation was ongoing and that the case would be taken to court when inquiries were complete. Police have not disclosed further information about the husband’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the reported hallucinations.
