Remo Women Initiative Provides Free Eye Screening for Commercial Drivers in Sagamu

The Remo Women Initiative has organised a free eye screening exercise for commercial drivers in Remoland, providing participants with description glasses and medicated eye drops following their examinations.

The Exercise, held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Express Junction Motor Park, Sagamu, Ogun State, was aimed at promoting good eye health and encouraging safer driving among commercial transport operators.

Commercial drivers turned out for the exercise, where eye doctors from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) were present to conduct eye examinations and attend to participants.

Following their tests, drivers were provided with description glasses and medicated eye drops as part of the healthcare intervention.

The initiative highlighted the importance of regular eye examinations for commercial drivers, whose work requires clear vision to navigate roads, identify hazards and ensure the safety of passengers and other road users.

The Sagamu Express Junction motor park outreach is one of many impactful interventions by the Remo Women Initiative, a women-led group that has continued to champion accessible healthcare, welfare support, and empowerment programmes across Remoland.

From health outreaches to educational support and welfare for the vulnerable, the group has carved a niche as a dependable partner in grassroots development, complementing government efforts with practical, people-centred actions.

Thursday’s eye screening reinforces that commitment “touching lives where it matters most and delivering healthcare to the doorstep of those who need it”.

Supported by Codix Pharma Limited, Olowo Oloye Foundation, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Rusewe and Dr. Mrs. Joke Sosowora, the exercise formed part of the Remo Women Initiative’s commitment to community healthcare and welfare.

Although brief, the event was impactful, bringing together healthcare professionals and commercial drivers for an intervention that prioritised their well-being and road safety.

The exercise ended on a positive note, reinforcing the importance of accessible healthcare services and regular eye checks among commercial drivers in Remoland.
