Sagamu Local Government Commissions Legacy Projects, Honours Late Ijaya With IT Centre

The Sagamu Local Government has commissioned a series of developmental projects in honour of the late Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, fondly known as Ijaya, whose impact on Remo land was described as “indelible” by the council chairman, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate.

Among the commissioned projects are the Sagamu Local Government Legislative Building, the reconstructed Sode Street in Sabo, and a newly completed Information Technology Centre named after Ijaya, who until her death represented Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking during the ceremony, Odulate praised the late lawmaker’s legacy, saying her tenure was marked by purposeful leadership and transformative representation that uplifted lives across Remo.

“During Ijaya’s reign, Remo witnessed a transformation we will talk about for generations. She brought not just projects, but purpose… her blueprint remains,” he said.

The chairman also acknowledged the role played by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in enabling Onanuga’s political strides.

“You didn’t just appoint a woman; you empowered a force. And through her, you touched every part of Remo,” Odulate said, addressing the governor.

The IT Centre, according to Odulate, is expected to bridge the digital divide and serve as a living monument to the late lawmaker’s commitment to youth empowerment and development.

“We immortalize her because her legacy lives in our roads, our schools, our women, our children, and now, in this IT Centre that will open the digital world to many,” he added.
