Sagamu LG Commissions Major Sode Road Project, Residents Hail Transformation

Residents of the Sabo area in Sagamu Local Government, Ogun State, have expressed joy and relief following the official commissioning of the newly reconstructed Sode Street, a significant infrastructure upgrade aimed at easing transportation and improving living conditions in the area.

The road was commissioned on Thursday by Honourable Ademola Adeniran Adeyinka, popularly known as Sapele, who represents Sagamu Constituency II at the Ogun State House of Assembly. He performed the ceremony on behalf of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Describing the project as a “solution-driven intervention,” Hon. Sapele said the reconstruction addresses long-standing challenges and reflects the government’s responsiveness to the needs of its people.

“This road represents more than just asphalt and drainage. It’s a reflection of a government that listens and responds to the needs of its people,” he said. “I commend Governor Abiodun and Chairman Odulate for consistently putting the welfare of residents at the forefront.”

Sode Street, once notorious for its poor state and frequent flooding, has now been transformed with reinforced drainage and a solid, motorable surface built to withstand daily traffic and the rainy season. Excited residents who attended the commissioning described the project as timely and impactful, especially for traders and commuters.

The reconstruction is part of the #IgbegaIjobaIbileSagamu agenda — a grassroots development drive led by Sagamu Local Government Chairman, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, focused on practical projects that directly improve people’s lives.

Speaking at the event, Odulate said Sode Street is one of several infrastructure projects already delivered, with more on the way.

“This is not about politics, it’s about results,” he said. “We’re focused on projects that make everyday life better and promote local economic growth.”
