Tegbe Assures Ikorodu–Sagamu Industries of Steady Power, Warns Against Energy Theft
Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has assured industries operating along the 132kV Ikorodu–Sagamu corridor of sustained electricity supply, while warning against energy theft, meter tampering and manipulation of electricity consumption data.
Tegbe gave the assurance during a high-level engagement with industrial customers along the corridor, following concerns over discrepancies between electricity supplied and the volume accounted for by market participants.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator’s monitoring systems reportedly detected discrepancies of up to 100 megawatts, with an estimated ₦120 billion in unaccounted energy value over one year. NISO has called for a transparent, scientific investigation to establish the causes of the gap.
Tegbe said reliable electricity supply must be matched by accurate metering, responsible consumption and payment for energy used, warning that the government would take action if investigations establish violations.
