THE COLLECTIVES 2026 FREE HEALTH WEEK OUTREACH: DAY THREE EXPANDS SERVICES TO EYE AND DENTAL CARE

The Collectives 2026 Free Health Week Outreach entered its third day on Thursday with an expanded range of healthcare services, as eye and dental care were added to the ongoing free medical screening, consultation and treatment programme at The Collectives Club House, 15 Paddy Arikawe Avenue, GRA, Sagamu.
Following two successful days of activities, Day Three remained firmly focused on delivering essential healthcare services to residents of Sagamu and surrounding communities, with members of The Collectives working alongside healthcare professionals to coordinate the various service points.
Beneficiaries accessing the general health screening went through the established process of registration, blood pressure checks and blood tests, followed by consultation with doctors on duty. Individual health concerns were assessed and appropriate medications prescribed and provided where necessary.
Eye Care Records Strong Turnout
A major highlight of Day Three was the introduction of a dedicated eye care station, which attracted significant interest from beneficiaries throughout the day.
At the station, beneficiaries underwent eye examinations and received professional attention for a range of vision-related concerns. A significant proportion of those examined were elderly residents, with cataracts identified among the common conditions observed in older beneficiaries.
Beyond screening and diagnosis, beneficiaries requiring vision correction were provided with free eyeglasses, while eye drops were also provided where appropriate. The strong turnout at the eye care station underscored the importance of accessible vision screening, particularly among older members of the community.
Dental Services Bring Preventive Care Closer to Residents
Day Three also saw the introduction of a dedicated dental care station, giving beneficiaries access to professional oral health assessment and preventive dental services.
The attending dentist examined beneficiaries and provided dental cleaning where required, including the removal of plaque and tartar buildup. Beneficiaries also received professional guidance on maintaining good oral hygiene and protecting their dental health.
Although patronage at the dental station was more moderate compared with the eye care section, the service provided an important opportunity for residents who might otherwise not routinely seek preventive dental care to have their oral health assessed.
The addition of eye and dental services reflects The Collectives’ broader objective of making the 2026 Free Health Week Outreach as comprehensive and impactful as possible moving beyond basic screening to provide beneficiaries with diagnosis, professional consultation, treatment and practical interventions that can improve their quality of life.
Turnout remained encouraging throughout Day Three, further demonstrating the community’s response to the initiative and the importance of bringing accessible healthcare services closer to the people.
The Collectives 2026 Free Health Week Outreach concludes on Friday, August 14, 2026, with activities running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Collectives Club House, 15 Paddy Arikawe Avenue, GRA, Sagamu.
