Veteran Nollywood Actor Olu Jacobs Dies at 84
Veteran Nollywood actor and theatre icon, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
The actor’s family announced his passing on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Reports from multiple Nigerian news outlets said the announcement was made by members of his family, including his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, and their son, Olusoji Jacobs.
Olu Jacobs was widely recognised for his decades-long career in theatre, television and film and became one of the most respected figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The family has appealed for privacy as relatives and loved ones mourn the veteran actor. No official cause of death has been disclosed in the reports reviewed.
