Hundreds of civil servants in Oyo State blocked the gate to the state government secretariat at Agodi, Ibadan, early on Monday morning to protest against several issues affecting them. The workers are demanding palliatives, an upward review of pension allowances, and payment of salary deductions, among other things. They are also demanding the payment of leave bonuses, payment of gratuities to retirees who have stagnated since 2021, and the release of promotion letters for the years 2021 and 2022.

The workers blocked the entrance to the state’s powerhouse, which houses the governor’s office, government ministries, agencies, and departments in the state, to demand an audience with Governor Seyi Makinde over issues affecting their service to the state. No official of the Oyo State government has addressed the protesting workers at the time of filling this report.
